Highlights from my last week in Tokyo

There’s so much I could write about but if I say it all we’ll never get to current events, so I’ll summarize! Here are some of the highlights from my last week in Tokyo:

• Staying at Kaoru’s house and getting to hang out with her family and Ewok… I mean miniature Yorkie, Yume.
• Hanging out with Okabe-kun, riding the longest escalator in Japan and eating way too much at Ramen Jiro in Ikebukuro. Sticking my REWIND card on the wall at Ramen Jiro.

• Getting a 15 minute massage from a $5,000 chair at Yamada Denki, then riding the electronic bull chair and getting 民謡 sung at me by the old guy working out on the equipment at the electronics store. “Do you have folk songs where you’re from?” uhhhhh
• Staying with Jamie and Takuma, laughing my ass off at their hilarious stories. They are such a funny couple. Hope you find your glove, Taku!

• Overstaying my welcome at Jamie and Takuma’s (haha just kidding!)
• Going back to Kaoru’s, cooking dinner together and trying to make an apple crisp, substituting panko for oatmeal. I guess it could’ve turned out worse!
• Going to Ikebukuro with Kaoru and her mom to help them pick out laptops, then having La Pausa(!!!)
• Slacklining in Yoyogi park again with Sosha and Shinobu, teaching a bunch of drunk hanami-goers how to walk the line.

• Climbing at the Pump in Ogikubo with Sosha, Shinobu and Odaya, not having to get a new member’s card
• Seeing three different slackline kits at Pump (but they were too expensive!)
• Meeting up with Don (finally!!) and gathering at La Pausa (again!) in Shinjuku
• Getting Don a capsule he didn’t really need, then going with everyone to take Mark to Shinjuku 2丁目 (this deserves its own article, coming soon…)
• Being so hungover the next day I couldn’t take my sunglasses off indoors

• Going to my karate circle’s nomikai anyways, and drinking some more (hair of the dog! another special article coming up)
• Going to the 2nd nomikai (hair of the wolf!)
• Spending my last Sunday in Odaiba with Kaoru, eating Kua’aina Burgers and riding Ferris Wheels, then having a great Thai meal in Kichijoji

• Staying in Maria’s awesome apartment in Ebisu (but not getting to hang out with her enough! >_<)
• Visiting Takako again and getting to met Rob, the current resident advisor and some of this year’s students

• ABURA SOBA!!!! with Sosha and his friend whose name I can’t spell
• Revisiting the Tankenbu bushitsu

• Ootoya with some good friends

• Rounding my last night off with a couple hours of karaoke
